Murray water allocation price

Victorian Murray temporary allocation this season (AUD per ML), week to 1 Nov: Zone 6 (above the Barmah Choke) $222/ML weekly VWAP; Zone 7 (below the Barmah Choke) $299/ML weekly VWAP. General market information only, not a live quote.

The Barmah Choke is the narrow reach of the Murray that begins downstream of Cobram and ends upstream of Echuca. It splits Victorian Murray allocation into two trading zones. Zone 6 sits above the Choke — the Yarrawonga–Cobram reach, fed from Hume and Dartmouth. Zone 7 sits below the Choke, where almonds, citrus and wine grapes set much of the demand. Because allocation cannot trade downstream past the Choke, Zone 6 typically prices at a discount to Zone 7.

Permanent water

Thinking of selling your Victorian Murray water shares?

Watching allocation prices is often the first step in a bigger decision. Integra also brokers permanent water entitlement sales — high- and low-reliability water shares in Victorian Murray and across the southern basin — appraised against recorded register transfers, not list prices.

An appraisal is confidential, obligation-free, and tells you what your entitlement would realise in today’s market — so the decision to sell (or hold) is made on numbers, not guesswork. Start with our current permanent water prices — allocation-adjusted HRWS and LRWS values by system — then see how a permanent entitlement sale works, or the difference between entitlements and allocations.
